BUILDING PROGRAMS
The building can be seen as many blocks. Moving them around and rearranging them will result in the configuration of the building.
Most of the building is open to the public with the exception of the private offices. The exhibit and the workshop/classroom could have the possibility to be open to the outdoor area as well.
The metal paneling on the exterior tie to the interior spaces. Each color represents one of the activities that children can find on the inside. Blue for educational, yellow for the calm library and red for the active workshop space. It helps to understand the functionality of the building while also attracting children and their families to it thanks to its bright colors.
The primary colors are an inspiration from LEGOs and also a simple and stand out.
While the building is extremely colorful on the exterior, the interior spaces remain in a neutral palette of white shades. This way it allows for the children to be the color within the structure.
CLASSROOM
The classroom functions as a learning environment. To promote this it is also used as an exhibit space for the neighborhood and the kids to learn more about the environment and the surrounding flora and fauna.
In this location there is also an entrance that leads to the other paths in the neighborhood that then take to the houses in the area.
LIBRARY
The library is a calm environment, where the parents can take their kids to have a more relaxing moment.
It has multiple bookshelves with many colorful books and also a few tables, floor cushions, and window benches to allow the choice of how people would prefer to take the moment to relax.
WORKSHOP
The workshop will allow kids to explore building things and stimulating their mind while doing hands-on activities. There will be large tables for a variety of crafts.
In addition the space will connect to the outdoors through a series of pocket doors in order for the space to open completely to the outside.
