“Lux Naturae” was designed based on the surrounding environment. It is a boardwalk that one can access from both sides of the creek, but that is also hidden in between the trees, that are all along the water. The design accents the site, not the architecture; the wooden boardwalk follows the topography and allows us to see the natural beauty of the place.
The title “LUX NATURAE” means “the light of nature”. This refers to the light feature in the design, but also the “light” of nature being its beauty. The light that comes from underneath the boardwalk, not only contours the structure, and consequently, the topography, but is also functional because it allows for the design to be used during the darker hours.
The design follows and integrates with the surrounding topography.
The light feature allows for the boardwalk to be used at night and highlights the water and topography of the site.
The tip of the boardwalk allows to admire the creek as if you were standing in the middle of it.
