The Clyfford Still Museum was an exploration of materials and details. I was fascinated with the small things that were present in the structure of the building and also in the paintings that were held inside. These textured elements were the inspiration for my model.
I created a model that represents the harmony between the materials and makes each one stand out in its own way. I found that the details and the play of lights were very descriptive of the location and showed the feeling of the architectural structure.
These images show different models that I worked on as a study of the materiality of the museum.
LEFT: A detail of the synthesis model and one of the materials that I used and with which I explored repetition and play of light.
LOWER LEFT: A study of concrete and how it behaves with formwork and also the way that it can be embedded with different materials.
These models reveal the beautiful imperfections of concrete, reflecting the same way it was in the Clyfford Still Museum.
The pictures show some pictures of Clyfford Still’s paintings that were on the inside of the museum and their beautiful textures.
